These next few images we find #16 for Elmira David Poulin with a gteat chance and a better save by Askey.

Poulin jumps on the loose puck...

...but is stopped by Askey.

The puck is still loose in the crease. Poulin begins to loose his balance.

Poulin winds up on the ice but the puck is between his legs.

This was a good chance for Elmira but they could not beat Askey.

Shortly after Poulin's chance, Kory Karlander tallied Kalamazoo's first goal.

#27 Frank Littlejohn scores the first goal of the year for the Jackals.  It was a short handed goal and assisting on the play was Evgeny Lazarev who fought off 3 Kalamazoo players in the near corner and found Littlejohn breaking for the net.  Askey made the initial save but Frank buried the rebound.

The rest of the PK unit come to celebrate the goal with Frank.  Drevitch and Mann were the other players on the ice.

Bodies pile up but Askey has his eye on the puck which is right between his gloves.

The Jackals kept up the pressure for much of the first period but had a tough time solving Askey.
