Welcome to GO JACKALS GO.com!!! My fan page dedicated to our hometown minor league hockey team. 04/10/09 - The Jackals avoided elimination with a convincing 6-3 game 4 victory over the Everblades to force a series clinching matchup in game 5 tomorrow at First Arena. Jackals presser The Jackals got goals from Chaz Johnson who scored 2, Yannick Tifu who gave Elmira their first, first period lead in the series, Tyler Donati, Olivier Proulx and Matt Robinson who scored the game winner. Justin Donati chipped in 4 assists on the night. Tyler Donati and Wes Cunningham had 2 assists each and Brennan Turner, Derick Martin and Maxime Gratchev all had one helper each. Chris Holt was absolutely freight trained at the end of the second period and appeared to be down and out but after several minutes on the ice he regrouped and was able to continue in net for Elmira. If you have not done so, get on down to the First Arena Box Office and purchase your tickets to help the Jackals in their effort to advance to the second round. SEE YOU ALL THERE! Click here or on the photo above to view more photos from this game Kelly Cup Playoffs Game 3 04/09/10 - Tonight the Jackals fell into a 3-0 hole and could never climb out of it as they lost game 3 of the first round series by a score of 6-2 to the Everblades. It was not for lack of effort as the Jackals outshot Florida 33-23 in the game. Game 4 Saturday night will prove what this Jackals squad is made of as they face elimination. The team needs us now more than ever. Let's pack the arena and help the team even the series at 2-2. Bring a friend tomorrow night. Let's Go Jackals! Kelly Cup Playoffs Game 2 04/07/10 - After a scoreless first period, the Jackals fell behind 1-0 early in the second period. The Florida lead lasted less than four minuits as Chris Korchinski tipped in a Max Gratchev shot to tie the game at one. From that point on the Jackals never really looked back as they started to punish the Everblades by taking the body on every chance they got and took control of the game. Wes Cunningham gave the Jackals the lead when he scored at the 12:59 mark of the second. Tyler Donati followed up with a goal at 18:23 of the second to make it 3-1 Elmira after 2 periods. Brendan Connolly scored at 2:31 of the third to make it 4-1 Jackals and Justin Donati scored a goal at 5:07 to make it 5-1. Florida scored a late goal to round out the scoring. Kelly Cup Playoffs Game 1 04/06/10 - Tonight was Game 1 of the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs with the Florida Everblades hosting the Elmira Jackals. Florida scored 39 seconds into the game to take the early 1-0 lead. They would score again at the 16:04 mark to make it 2-0 on a goal by Eric Lampe. In the second period it seemed that Florida had taken a 3-0 lead on a goal by former Jackal Elgin Reid but the goal was waved off due to an offside's play. Brendan Connolly then got Elmira on the board with a goal at the 9:19 mark of the second to cut the deficit to 2-1. It seemed the Jackals were going to escape the second frame down by only one goal but Florida netted what proved to be a back breaking goal at the 19:59 of the second to put them up 3-1. Despite outshooting Florida 14-8 in the third, Everblades goalie Beckford-Tseu and the defensive core kept Elmira off the board until late in the period. Max Gratchev scored at the 17:51 with the extra attacker to make it 3-2 with over 2 minutes to play. Our nemisis Elgin Reid scored an empty netter to make it 4-2 at 18:57. The Jackals kept fighting and Yannick Tifu made it 4-3 with a goal at 19:27 and that's how the game would end. The two teams face off again Wednesday in Game 2. Thank you Al! 03/31/10 - Tonight the Jackals secured the Division Title with a 5-3 win over the Reading Royals at First Arena. Jackals Presser Chris Holt was reassigned to Elmira before today's game and he earned the win for Elmira between the pipes. In other news, Justin Donati was named to the ECHL's All Rookie Team. The Jackals have two road games remaining to close out the regular season as they play Friday in Trenton and Saturday in Johnstown. The Jackals will play the Florida Everblades in the first round of the playoffs. The Jackals are the # 3 seed and the Everblades are the # 6 seed. The series opens up in Florida with the Jackals hosting game 3 next Friday and games 4 and 5 if necessary on Saturday and Sunday. Wednesday night the Jackals can clinch the top spot in the division with a home win over the Reading Royals. This is Fan Appreciation night and one lucky chuck a puck winner will take home a car. 03/27/10 - The Jackals lost to the Devils 5-0 in Trenton but in Elmira there was a celebration of 10 years of Minor Pro Hockey in the Twin Tiers with an Alumni Game of former Jackals playing against Elmira Police and Firemen.

Jackals press release They now travel to Kalamazoo to take on the Wings Wednesday night. 03/21/10 - The Johnstown Chiefs made their final appearance at First Arena and the Jackals sent them packing by beating them 4-0 on the strength of goals by Brendan Connolly, Tyler Donati, Matt Robinson and Matt Lowry. Andy Chiodo got the shut out win in goal for Elmira. Reading took a 2-0 lead after one period and the Jackals came back to tie it at 2-2 but Reading stole the momentum and retook the lead less than a minute later and would close out the scoring with 4 unanswered goals. EC Senior goalie Casey Tuttle saw his first action as pro when he came into the game with 7:48 remaining in the third period. Click here or on the photo above to view more photos from this game. 03/17/10 - It took 5 minutes of overtime and a 9 round shootout to decide tonight's contest with Charlotte and the Checkers took the extra point with the shootout win. The Jackals 6 goals came from 6 different shooters. Olivier Proulx, Justin Donati, Brendan Connolly, Kegan Dansereau, Brennan Turner and Wes Cunningham scored goals for the good guys. Andy Chiodo earned the win between the pipes. 03/13/10 - The Jackals came from behind to tie the game on 3 different occasions to force overtime but the Cincinnati Cyclones scored the game winner in sudden death overtime to take home a 4-3 win. Tyler Donati scored 2 goals for Elmira on the way to becoming the Jackals all-time scoring leader with 94 points overtaking Randy Murphy for the honor. Click here or on the photos above to view more photos from this game. 03/12/10 - The Jackals lose to the Kalamazoo Wings tonight by a final score of 5-2 as the Race Weekend at First Arena got off to a slow start. Sporting special race themed jerseys which will be auctioned off after Saturday's game vs. Cincinnati, turnovers in their own end led to Kalamazoo's 2-0 first period lead. Elmira would make it a 3-2 decifit with 55 seconds left in the second but the KWings would get that goal right back just seconds later to finish the second period with a 4-2 lead. Elmira could not muster a comeback and Kalamazoo scored again in the third to take the 5-2 win for the second weekend in a row. Above: Thomas Beauregard 03/07/10 - Once again the Jackals come from behind late to tie the game and force overtime and then won it :46 seconds into the extra frame by a final of 5-4 over the Johnstown Chiefs. Trailing 4-3 in regulation Justin Donati scored his 34th goal of the year to tie the game 4-4 and force overtime. Then :46 seconds into OT Brennan Turner scored the game winner on feeds from Justin and Tyler Donati. Great Win Jackals!!! 03/06/10 - The Jackals fell to the Kalamazoo Wings tonight by a score of 4-1 at First Arena. Chaz Johnson scored the only Elmira goal on a feed off a face off win by Chris Korchinski. Jackals press release Above: This face off win by Chris Korchinski resulted in the Jackals only goal of the game as Chaz Johnson took the feed from Korchinski and buried it behind former Jackal Ryan Nie. Click here or on the photo above to view more photos from this game. 03/05/10 - It took overtime but the Jackals prevailed over the Johnstown Chiefs 5-4 on an Olivier Proulx goal. The Chiefs would not give up in this game as Elmira held leads of 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3. Former Jackal Chanse Fitzpatrick knotted the game at 4-4 with 1:33 left in the third and the goalie pulled for the extra attacker and sending the game to overtime. In the extra session Olivier Proulx went to the front of the net and fought hard for position and his hard work paid off as he tipped in an R.J. Click here or on the photo above to view more photos from this game. 02/27/10 - Tonight the Jackals returned to the win column with a 4-1 win over the Wheeling Nailers on First Arena Ice. Chris Korchinski scored 2 goals and was a plus +1 for Elmira and Andy Chiodo stopped 29 of 30 shots to earn the win and extend his record while with Elmira to 5-1. Click here or on the photo above to view more photos from this game. 02/26/10 - The Jackals were taken down by the Trenton Devils on home ice by a final of 3-1. Trenton scored 3 second period goals and hung on for dear life in the third as the Jackals outshot them 21-1 in an effort to mount the comeback. Elmira had two apparent goals disallowed in the contest. Trenton has now won 5 games in a row and are only 10 points behind Elmira. Reading also won to climb back to 9 points behind. Tyler Donati led the offense with his first career hat trick to go along with 1 assist and was a +3 for the game. Julien Ellis took the win in net for Elmira. Read the Jackals presser here. Click here or the photo above to view more photos from this game. 02/20/10 - Tonight's contest, the second one honoring the Corrections Officers, was a much tighter game. With a few hundred Reading fans in the building completing a sold out standing room crowd the atmosphere for the game was playoff like and the game developed much the same way. Reading took a first period 1-0 lead into the locker room but Elmira would tie it at 1-1 in the second on a Max Gratchev goal. The score remained tied until late in the third when Tyler Donati notched his 28th goal of the year to give Elmira the 2-1 advantage with only 3:03 left on the clock. Minutes later Chris Korchinski would notch what proved to be the game winner when he fired the puck from an impossible angle and it managed to find it's way into the net and give the Jackals a 3-1 lead. Reading would pull Dalton in favor of the extra attacker and the move payed off as Marc Cavosie would score at the 19:53 mark. The ensuing face off resulted in a Reading Rush into the Jackals end and a great scoring chance for Reading was denied by Andy Chiodo to seal the Jackals win. The two points earned lengthened the Jackals lead to 9 points over the Royals. Click here or on the photo above to view more photos from this game. 02/19/10 - Tonight the Jackals defeated the Reading Royals 8-3 to begin the current home stand and in doing so, they extended their lead in the division to 7 points. Jarrett Konkle broke out of a goal scoring slump in a big way as the lead the Jackals offensive surge with a hat trick. Both teams along with the Ref and linesmen wore special jerseys to honor New York State Corrections Officers. The Jerseys for both teams are being auctioned off for charity. Trenton opened up a two goal cushion once again early in the second and extended it to a 6-3 lead in the third before the Jackals closed the gap to 6-5. A late Devils goal put the game out of reach and the Jackals streak came to an end with the 7-5 loss. Above: R.J. The Jackals special teams played a key roll in the win as they went 3 for 7 on the power play and added a short handed goal by Olivier Proulx. Matt Lowry Tim Spencer Keegan Dansereau 02/07/10 - Julien Ellis stopped all 31 shots he faced today to earn the Jackals first shutout of the season and a 2-0 win over the Devils in Trenton. The offense was supplied by Tyler Donati who scored midway through the second period with assists from Justin Donati and Matt Robinson. Olivier Proulx added an insurance empty net goal late in the third. The win extends the Jackals lead over Reading to 5 points. The Jackals continue on the road with two games next Friday and Saturday in Wheeling before returning home next Sunday (Valentines day) to face our true love (NOT) the Trenton Devils.
02/06/10 - The Jackals went into Reading tonight with a one point lead in the standings and were able to extent that lead to 3 points with a 3-2 win. Matt Robinson Yannick Tifu 01/31/10 - Keegan Dansereau's first career hat trick was not enough as The Toledo Walleye came from behind today at First Arena and ended the Jackals 4 game winning streak in Overtime by a score of 5-4. The Jackals did however extend their unbeaten in regulation streak to 5 games. In their past 5 games the Jackals have earned 9 out of a possible 10 points and have moved to within 1 point of first place Reading. That's right, tonight was Chemung ARC Blow Horn night at First Arena and the raucous crowd was at full throng throughout the game as the Jackals piled on the offense. Seven different Jackals scored a goal with Justin Donati netting two to go along with 2 assists. Brother Tyler notched four assists on the evening. The Jackals are on a three game winning streak where they have outscored their opponents by a whooping 23-5 margin. Reading was idol tonight and the Jackals win moved them to within 2 points of the first place Royals. The win marked the second straight night that the Jackals totally manhandled the Walleye. In the two game series the Jackals outscored the Angry Fish from Toledo 15-4. The Jackals crept even closer to the first place Royals as Reading lost in South Carolina. The Royals lead is only 4 points now. The Jackals are home for three games next weekend with two against Gwinnette and one against the Walleye. Let's pack the arena to support the Jackals. 01/22/10 - The Jackals defeated the Toledo Walleye tonight by a score of 7-2. The Elmira win coupled with the Reading 8-4 loss on the road to South Carolina moved the Jackals to within 6 points of the division lead again. The Jackals face off again tomorrow night with the Walleye. 01/17/10 - The Jackals avoided being shut out today when Justin Donati scored with only 1:01 left on the third period clock. 01/09/10 - The Jackals defeated the Everblades for the second consecutive nights this time with a shootout win! Jackals presser Justin Donati and Yannick Tifu each had four point nights for Elmira while Julien Ellis earned the shootout win between the pipes. The Jackals climbed to within 3 points of first place Reading who lost to the Cyclones at home. This sets up a huge battle next weekend as Elmira heads to Reading to face the Royals in back to back games Friday and Saturday and GOJACKALSGO will be there! Wanna go to this game too? The Jackals travel to Reading on the 29th for a chance to cut into the Royals lead. 12/26/09 - The Jackals defeated the Reading Royals tonight by a score of 6-3. The Jackals brought back Mike Sgroi and it did not take long for him to make an impact as he had a goal and an assist and was a plus 3 for the evening. Jarrett Konkle opened the scoring for Elmira at the 1:25 mark of the first period. It was Jarrett's first goal and second point since returning to Elmira in the Fitzpatrick trade with Johnstown. Olivier Proulx scored with 2:03 remaining in the third to give Elmira a 3-2 lead. Chance Fitzpatrick scored with only 4 seconds remaining in the game to tie the contest and force overtime. Click here or on the photo above to view more photos from this game. 12/11/09 - The Jackals take home a thrilling come from behind victory over the Johnstown Chiefs in a shootout by a final of 5-4. Matt Robinson opened the scoring for Elmira at the 14:14 mark of the first period but the Chiefs tied the game with only 4 seconds remaining in the period to end the first 1-1. Late in the second Johnstown scored two goals to take a 3-1 lead heading to the third. In the third former Jackal Moises Gutierrez made it 4-1 Johnstown and it appeared the Jackals were all but finished. STOP THE PRESS!!! The Jackals came storming back as Brett Gallant notched his first of the year to start the comeback bid. Gallant's goal was followed by markers from Justin Donati and Chris Korchinski to tie the game at 4-4 and send the game to overtime. In OT the Jackals were awarded a 5 minute major power play but could not convert. In the shootout Elmira got goals from Max Gratchev, Justin Donati and Chanse Fitzpatrick to seal the win. Pier-Olivier Pelletier earned the win in goal for Elmira, his first of the season. 12/06/09 - The Jackals dropped their third game of the weekend and second straight to South Carolina 3-1. They are now in second place 5 points behind first place Reading and 3 points ahead of both Johnstown and Trenton. 12/05/09 - As hard as they tried the Jackals could not overcome deficits of 3-0 and 4-1 but they did make a comeback bid which fell just short as the final score was 4-3 South Carolina. 12/04/09 - The Jackals took a 1-0 lead in tonight's game vs. Charlotte with a goal by Chanse Fitzpatrick early in the second period. Charlotte tied the game later in the second on a goal from Randy Rowe at the 8:40 mark. Andrew Carroll scored the game winner for Charlotte midway through the third period. Final score Checkers 2 Jackals 1. The Jackals travel to South Carolina for game on Saturday and Sunday vs. the Stingrays. In Binghamton tonight the Senators won 5-0 over the Syracuse Crunch. Chris Holt was in net for the BSens and he turned away 26 Syracuse shots to earn his second straight shutout victory. Max Gratchev scored his first career AHL goal in the third period on a 5-3 power play to finish off the scoring for Binghamton. Also notching goals for Elmira were Keegan Dansereau and Justin Donati. The Jackals set an ECHL record in the game for fewest shots on goal allowed by a team by holding the Trenton Devils to a total of 8 sog over the three periods. Over the home and home series between the two clubs the Jackals outshot the Devils 85 to 28. Great team effort Jackals! Yannick Tifu scored both markers for the Jackals. These same teams meet again tomorrow in Elmira. Congratulations go out tonight to Chris Holt who backstopped the Binghamton Senators to a 5-0 shutout win over the Rochester Americans. Hats off to you Chris! 11/27/09 - The Jackals lost to the Wheeling Nailers at home by a 4-1 final score. On Teddy Bear Toss night the fans were still left holding their stuffed animals on their laps in the third period. Fans did throw the bears on the ice when J.F. David appeared to have scored a goal to narrow the deficit but it was waved off by the Referee. The Jackals face off against the Trenton Devils tonight in Trenton before taking on the Devils Sunday at First Arena. This Friday is the annual Teddy Bear Toss. In these tough times it is more important than ever for us to step and do our part to support this cause so be sure to bring a stuffed animal or toy to be thrown on the ice following the Jackals first goal. Sunday is a Skate with the Jackals game. Following the game take to the ice to skate with the team. 11/21/09 - The Jackals reclaim first place with a 5-3 win over Wheeling and a Reading 4-0 loss to Florida. Tyler Donati scored two goals and Yannick Tifu added a goal and three assists. Travis Gawryletz scored his second goal of the year and it was the game winner and Olivier Proulx added an insurance goal. Elmira drew first blood with Donati's first goal but fell behind 3-1 in the second frame. Tifu's first goal as a Jackal brought the team to within a goal as the second period came to an end. Elmira took over from there netting 3 more unanswered goals to take the win. Chris Holt was in goal and made 29 saves on 32 shots to gain the victory. Max Gratchev scored both goals for Elmira while Nailer goaltender Adam Berkhoel made 33 saves to backstop Wheeling to the win. Tim Spencer made his Jackals debut after being assigned by Binghamton. Brett Gallant was called up to Syracuse and Justin Donati was a scratch due to illness. Tyler Donati notched assists on both Gratchev goals and is now tied with Justin for the lead in points. The same two teams face off again tomorrow night for the rematch. Get your tickets as soon as possible to avoid being shut out. Jackals Presser In other news, the Binghamton Senators have recalled defenseman Matt Robinson. 11/15/09 - The Jackals came off their record win Saturday night and scored an additional 4 goals today but their defense eluded them as they allowed Charlotte 6 goals to fall for the second time in three days to the Checkers by a final of 6-4. The Jackals return to action Friday night at First Arena vs. Wheeling. 11/14/09 - Update: The Jackals said enough is enough tonight as they put an end to the 5 game skid with a dominating performance over Gwinnett. The Jackals opened the flood gates and crushed the Gladiators 11-3. Jackals presser The only Jackals held off the score sheet were Ben Wright, Travis Gawryletz, Brett Gallant and Michael Teslak. Justin Donati had a 6 point night. Tyler Donati and Max Gretchev each had 5 points all on assists. Overall the Jackals offense produced 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points. A second period brawl that saw four players given game misconducts and which left Jackals Captain Olivier Proulx bloodied but not beaten spurned the crowd on to a "Thriller" like frenzy. Chris Korchinski got the game winner, a beautiful shorthanded unassisted goal (see below) to break the tie and give the Jackals a 3-2 lead. Tyler Donati added an empty netter to seal the win. The Jackals extend their unbeaten streak to 6 games, the best start for the Jackals since joining the ECHL. Tomorrow night the Jackals host the Trenton Devils. Above: Keegan Dansereau was sent down to Elmira and should see his first action for the Jackals on Friday against Cincinnati. 10/25/09 - The Jackals improve to 5-0 on the season with a come from behind 4-3 win in Wheeling. The two teams entered the third period tied 1-1 and Wheeling extended the lead to 2-1 before Brandon Svedsen knotted it at 2-2 with his third goal of the season. A power play goal by Tyler Donati put Elmira up 3-2 before Chris Korchinski scored a shorthanded empty net goal to extend the lead to 4-2. Korchinski's goal was the game winner as Wheeling did not give up and with 12 seconds remaining scored a PPG of their own to make it a 4-3 score. Brandon Connolly scored the other goal for Elmira, his first goal in his first game of the year. The Jackals return to the ice next weekend for two home games on Fri. and Sat. vs. Cincinnati and Trenton. 10/24/09 - Tonight it took 59 minutes and 33 seconds for the Jackals to get on the scoreboard and tie the game at one and force overtime. Down 1-0 to the Chiefs and with goalie Chris Holt on the bench in favor of the extra attacker the Jackals were able to tie the game with just 27 ticks left on the clock with a goal by defenseman Ben Wright, his first of the season, to force overtime where they would win it on a goal by Chanse Fitzpatrick. Tim Spencer did see some limited ice time in this tight game but did well while he was in the lineup. The Senators battled to send the game to overtime which was quite a feat in itself after having been blown out on home ice by the same Hershey Bears 8-1 just a week earlier. The Bears prevailed in OT on a goal by former Senator Alexandre Giroux who was named the games first star. Brendan Connolly and Nino Musitelli are added to the Jackals 09-10 roster after agreeing to terms. Connolly helped spark the Jackals offense during the stretch run toward the playoffs last season. Musitelli comes our way after becoming a free agent when the Dayton Bombers ceased operations. Nino was Dayton's leasing scorer last season with 50 points on 19 goals and 31 assists as a rookie.
